Well, it has definitely been a very busy and very eventful week around here. I am finally getting a breather and a chance to settle down to write about it all.
It all started last Monday. A regular old day at work, but that night was a night to look forward to! Jay took me to see Metric live at Budweiser Gardens. He had bought the tickets for me back in September and I had been looking forward to it ever since. They are one of my favourite bands, and I had tickets about 3 years ago to see them but I had to give those up to travel for work on short notice. This was the first time they have been back in the area since then and I am so glad I didn’t miss it again this time. It was a phenomenal show and definitely a highlight in this past year. I enjoyed every second of it including the openers: Stars. Both are great Canadian bands. If you are looking for great indie rock bands, both Stars and Metric are bands you should be checking out!
This week also included a trip to the dentist (ick) where I found out that my wisdom teeth need to come out, and a hair appointment for a MUCH needed haircut. Would you believe it has been a year since I have had one! It felt amazing having my hair cut back to a manageable length and it was ever better getting my bangs back. I love my hair again!
Throughout this very busy week I was also able to complete a project. Here it is, the finished Green Bay Packers coaster!
I am a lot happier with the way it turned out than I initially thought I would be. I still absolutely will not buy Davosa again. So many of the stitches just look wrong. Luckily it’s not overly noticeable except to me, and Jay loves it. I guess that’s the most important part, isn’t it? I also made some minor progress on my snowflake ornament but (go me!) I forgot to take pictures of said progress. I promise I will remember next time! It’s looking great, and aside from the DMC Light Effects being a bit of a pain to work with it is going quite smoothly compared to the coaster. Planning on working on it some more while Jay watches the Grey Cup.
Today I spent the afternoon Christmas shopping. It feels a little early, but for some reason I am feeling a lot more festive this year than I have in past years. Our Christmas tree is up and so are our stockings. We even have our first gift under the tree! I am super excited this year! I can’t wait to share more of what I am stitching and what we are doing through the holidays this year.
Yes, it’s been ages since I’ve posted. Things have been quite busy around home. I have finally found some time though to settle down to get some stitching done and write a new post, as well as share a few other things.
For the first time in what feels like ages, I settled down tonight and got some serious stitching done. I made some excellent progress on Jay’s Green Bay Packers coaster tonight and I am sure it will finally be finished this weekend.
This felt great as I feel like I have had the same small projects on the go for a long time. I am looking forward to finishing this one and moving on to something else new. I still have the snowflake ornament to finish as well and hope to finish it within the next week.
With it getting colder outside now, I am definitely feeling much more like curling up with a nice hot cup of tea and stitching my days away. I have to say I am looking forward to more nights like tonight where I could do those things.
I am a little frustrated of late. I bought my camera almost three weeks ago and haven’t had a single chance to put it to use. We have had all of one day without rain in the last few weeks, and yesterday we even saw snow. SNOW! It’s too early for snow! Anyways, thanks to the weather, I haven’t had a chance to get out at all. I had all sorts of lofty plans to get some fall photos with all the gorgeous colourful leaves on the trees. That time has past unfortunately. In the meantime, I can at least say I have learned how to use it. It’s a far cry from my old point and shoot, and I am loving it. Now I just need some gorgeous weather to try and salvage what’s left of the Autumn photo opportunities.
We had a little bit of excitement Friday night (well, last night) in the form of a fun outing. I won tickets to a London Knights game at work, and we went last night. In the process I determined that hockey is an incredibly violent sport and it’s really not my thing. Regardless, it was a fun experience. I hadn’t seen a hockey game since my cousins were little and playing in local leagues. Here are a couple photo highlights:
Lastly, next Sunday is Remembrance Day here in Canada. Jay and I plan to attend the local ceremonies. I hope to have photos (from the camera) to share soon. In other words, I hope to have another post or two ready in the very near future. It feels good to get back to blogging after not posting for a long time!
I haven’t stitched a lot lately. I have find I am also stitching much more slowly and in smaller periods that I used to. I think a lot of this has to do with working full-time now as well as being on the go almost all the time. I have very little downtime compared to what I used to. Nevertheless, I do have a couple works in progress on the go.
The first is the Green Bay Packers coaster I posted about a little while ago. I haven’t made a ton of progress on it, but I have definitely made a dent in it.
It is definitely starting to take shape and is looking like the Packers’ ‘G’! I think this one is going to be great when it’s done. I think the more uneven stitches will be forgotten about once the whole thing is complete. Still definitely won’t be buying Davosa again though.
The other work in progress I have on the go is actually a Christmas ornament. I realize Halloween hasn’t even happened yet, but for some reason I am more excited for Christmas this year than I am Halloween. Who knows… I’m not complaining either way.
This snowflake pattern is a free pattern again from Stitching the Night Away. I love how beautiful it is going to look when it’s finished. It’s beauty is in its simplicity I think. All one colour, and the option to use the threads of your choice. It will be gorgeous when it’s done.
That’s all I have for now… hopefully these will be done soon. I can’t wait to share the finished products!
